Olympic Steel Names Vice President of Management Information Systems
Cleveland, Ohio (September 22, 1999) - R. Louis Schneeberger, Chief Financial Officer of Olympic Steel, Inc. (Nasdaq: ZEUS) announced the promotion of Heber MacWilliams to Vice President of Management Information Systems. MacWilliams brings over 25 years of experience in the field of Information Systems to this position.
MacWilliams most recently served as Olympic's Director of Management Information Systems. Prior to joining Olympic, he spent 14 years as partner in charge of Management Consulting at a Cleveland public accounting firm, and concurrently 11 years as a member of the faculty of Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead School of Management.

MacWilliams received his MBA and Ph.D. degrees from New York University, majoring in management and economics. He graduated from The Johns Hopkins University with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering. He also is President of the Northeast Ohio chapter of the Society for Information Management and he is Chairman of the Information Technology Committee of the Steel Service Center Institute.
MacWilliams began his employment with Olympic in November 1994. He is responsible for guiding and managing the corporate information systems effort for the Company. In this capacity, his primary mission is to assure that Olympic makes the best use of information processing technologies that support Olympic's goals of growth and profitability.
