Olympic Steel, a national steel service center, has an immediate opening for a Safety Manager in Plymouth, MN. This position is responsible for managing all safety-related activities for four facilities located in Minnesota, Iowa, and Chicago.
The Safety Manager is responsible for developing and implementing safety policies, procedures and programs in compliance with OSHA and ANSI standards and regulations. This position also develops and delivers safety training, conducts inspections, and audits and oversees accident investigations. The Safety Manager oversees the prevention and identification of hazardous workplace conditions, including taking samples and measurements as needed, while also coordinating the removal of any hazardous materials. This position also ensures and maintains necessary record keeping, including all safety and accident reports in accordance with established guidelines and administering workers compensation programs. This position reports directly to the Regional Vice President.
Minimum Qualifications
- Undergraduate and/or graduate degree, preferably in Environmental Health and Safety
- 3-5 years safety experience in the general industry
- CSP certification preferred
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication skills
The position will require 30-40% business travel.
