Olympic Steel – Detroit has an immediate opening for a career-oriented individual interested in Customer Service.
Maintains, grows and services primarily existing, and occasionally, new accounts in an assigned territory, primarily utilizing phone, fax and electronic communications. Partners with Outside Sales Representatives to establish strong, long-term relationships with customers and confidence in Olympic Steel’s overall capabilities. Ensures high-quality customer service, including rapid response to all inquiries. Supports Inside and Outside Sales Representatives by generating leads, mining dormant accounts and qualifying new accounts in the territory. Manages the order entry process, trouble-shoots problems and assists in rectifying complaints and claims. Regularly solicits customer feedback regarding products, services, price and overall performance.
Minimum Qualifications
- 1 year of prior work experience in an applicable customer sales/service role, preferably in the steel industry.
- Strong customer service and sales aptitude, with prior steel industry and product knowledge highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment while also managing individual goals and objectives.
- Proficiency in Lotus Notes, MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel applications and Olympic’s computer systems a plus.
- Strong business, math, analytical, organizational, prioritization, multi-tasking and planning skills desired.
